Privacy policy
This policy explains what we do with your personal data. We are the data controller: InceptionWeb Ltd, trading as Teepee Tents, company number 14433477, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. Questions about your data: hello@teepeetents.com.
What we collect
- When you order: name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, order contents. Card details are handled by Shopify Payments and its providers — we never see or store your full card number.
- When you subscribe: your email address.
- When you contact us: whatever you choose to tell us.
- When you browse: IP address, device and browser type, time zone, the pages and products you view, the site or search term that brought you here, and how you move around the site. This is collected through cookies, server log files, and small tracking files sometimes called pixels, tags or web beacons.
Why, and on what legal basis
- To fulfil your order and deliver it — performance of our contract with you.
- To keep accounting, VAT and customs records — legal obligation.
- To send marketing emails — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
- To screen orders for fraud, protect the site and improve it — our legitimate interests in running a secure and functioning shop.
- To show you our advertising elsewhere on the web — your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
Who we share it with
- Shopify, which powers this store and our checkout — Shopify's privacy policy.
- Our payment providers, who process your card or wallet payment.
- Our workshop in Poland, which makes your teepee and posts it to you directly. It receives your name, delivery address, phone number and order contents — nothing else — solely in order to send your parcel and complete the customs paperwork.
- The courier carrying your parcel, and the customs authorities who require the shipping declaration.
- Google, for website analytics and advertising, where you have accepted those cookies — Google's privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal data, and we never will. Poland is covered by UK adequacy regulations, so your data is protected to the same standard there as it is here. Where any other provider is outside the UK, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations or by standard contractual clauses.
Advertising, and how to opt out
If you accept advertising cookies, we may show you our products again on Google's advertising network after you have visited the site. We do not use Meta, Facebook or Instagram advertising.
You can turn this off at any time through the cookie preferences link in the footer, in Google's own ad settings, or across many advertisers at once at youronlinechoices.com.
Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the shop and your basket, and — only with your consent — analytics and advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link in the footer. Blocking necessary cookies will stop the basket and checkout working.
Do Not Track
Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal, but there is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it, and we do not currently change what we collect when we receive one. Your cookie choices in the banner do control what we collect, and they are the setting that matters.
Automated decisions
We do not make any decision about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you in any way that has a legal or similarly significant effect.
How long we keep it
Order, VAT and customs records for six years after the end of the relevant financial year, as UK tax law requires. Marketing consent until you withdraw it. Enquiries for two years. Analytics data for 14 months.
Children
We sell products for children, but we sell them to adults. This site is not intended for children, we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and no one under 18 should place an order. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@teepeetents.com and we will respond within one month. We will not charge you and we will not ask you why.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
